Nepali Bhasa Class

Nepali Bhasa Class (NBC) is an informal class where the Nepali language, culture, and traditions are taught to kids in the Nepali community.

Class Objectives

  • To teach the Nepali Language (speaking, reading, and writing).

  • To provide general knowledge of the Nepali culture and religion.

  • To introduce and perform pieces of Nepali art, songs, and dance.

  • To become familiar with each other, share ideas, and develop friendships.

Funding Sources

  • Donations from parents and guardians of students.

  • Donations from community members.

  • Donations from charitable organizations.

  • Donations from government and non-governmental organizations.

  • Registration fee from the student.

  • Funds provided by ANKA resources.

Fund Implementation

  • To purchase stationary supplies and other educational materials.

  • To provide compensation or incentives to teachers if needed.

  • To pay hall rent if needed.

  • To purchase prizes, certificates, and medals to provide student and team members.

Education committee

This committee is formed by the ANKA board and tries to include interested members who have educational background and are eager to serve the community.

  • To determine curriculum and policy.

  • To select the teacher and volunteers for NBC.

  • To prepare budget for NBC and submit to ANKA Board.

  • To monitor NBC.

  • To recommend the organization of workshops, seminars, and awareness programs related to education.

Implementation of NBC

  • Inform community about registration for their kids for NBC.

  • Obtain consent from parents to allow their kids’ participation in NBC.

  • Sign the terms and conditions document of NBC by parent.

  • Class is conducted in the public library or church hall according to availability.

  • Class is held bi-weekly during school time and weekly during summer vacation.

  • Class last 1.5 hours, including extra-curricular activities.

  • Teachers, students, and volunteers will be present in the classroom.

  • Hand out homework assignments and other study aides to students.

Evaluation and Reporting

Teachers will evaluate students on the basis of attendance, classwork, homework, and participation in extra activities for the whole year. Upon completion, they will be provided certificates and prizes during a graduation ceremony in different fields of learning.
